Crosswell Home for Children

Second Sunday Suppers by ADBC

CHC Cottages

Alice Drive Baptist Church:

We are so excited you are wanting to help us provide a traditional Sunday meal for our children at Crosswell Home for Children.  This program was originally created in 2013 with Girl Scout Troop 2292 in Sumter as a service project for their Silver Award. They recruited 6 church and/or service groups who each provided a Sunday Supper twice a year for our children.  After the first year, we were able to continue this program until 2020.  We are excited to start this program back and to have you all on board to help us!  We have made a name change and are calling this program “Second Sunday Suppers for Crosswell”

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS:

  1.  SIGN UP
    • Below are sign up slots for the second Sunday of  four months in 2026.  There are three cottages listed in each month that provide you the details of the population that reside and work in them.  This will help you determine the quantity of food to prepare for each cottage.
    • Your group leader will sign up as the primary contact and provide contact information as well as information regarding meal plans
    • After signing up an email will be sent to the contact provided regarding our Confidentiality Guidelines.  This will just need to be shared with anyone who will be a part of the meal delivery.  Nothing will need to be returned.
  2. PREPARE MEALS
    • Prior to delivery day, please double check the sign up to make sure there have been no changes made to the population of our children.  This can change often as new children are admitted or discharged.
    • Prepare meals for three cottages.  Each cottage will eat separately and has their own kitchen/eating area they use on Sunday.
    • Meals should be more traditional style with a dessert.  They should not include pizza or fast food type meals.  Some meal ideas are the following:  Meat plus sides, casseroles, soups, stews, pastas, fried chicken, etc.
    • Meals should be in disposable/reusable containers that do not need to be returned to the volunteer group.  Please Do Not provide dinks/utensils, serving utensils, plates. (These are available in the cottages)
  3. DELIVER MEALS
    • Deliveries should be made between 4:30-5:30pm on the Second Sunday of the month you signed up for.  If you need to plan a different delivery time, please contact Suzy (contact below).
    • Our campus address is 11 Crosswell Drive and we are gated.  You will enter at our entrance on Crosswell Drive that is closest to Main Street.  It has a call box where a code can be entered for entrance.  This information will be provided directly before your delivery date.  This is confidential information that should not be shared.
    • We ask that children under the age of 18, not enter and interact with our children as we need to be aware of our confidentiality guidelines for our children.
    • Please abide by our speed limit signs of 10 miles per hour and be aware of children playing outside or on bikes.
    • If there is more than one vehicle making the delivery, please arrive at the same time so that the deliveries can be provided in the same time frame.  It is advised to come in as few vehicles as possible.
    • The cottages will be on your left as you go around the horseshoe drive.  You will be delivering to Cottage B, C and D(not to cottage A).  A Map will be provided upon sign up.
    • Each cottage has cottage parents on duty who will let you in the cottage.  Cottage B and C entrances are on the front of the cottage and Cottage D entrance is the side entrance closest to the drive.
    • If your group would like to pray over the meal with our children and staff before leaving we appreciate and encourage.
  4. LEAVING CAMPUS
    • You will exit our campus the same way you came in.
    • Please use the pavement or parking spots to turn around and avoid the grass.
    • As you approach the last speed bump before the gate, please drive slowly and as far to the right side as possible without driving on the grass.  The gate will automatically open for you.
